Yoruba Creation Legend

Yoruba Creation Legend
The myths of this West African tribe centre mainly around the personality of Shango, their first king, a leader of great ferocity, who lived in a palace of brass, where he kept 10,000 horses. It would appear that all their gods were tribal leaders at some stage preceding their arrival in West Africa and any other religion they may have had involving abstract gods has long since dropped out of use. Further details are given under Aganju, Amirini, Eda Male, Gwalu, Ibe Dji, Magba, Obatalla, Odudua, Ogun, Oko, Olokun, Olorun, Orishako, Orunjan, Ose-Shango, Oshalla, Oya, Shango, Shankpanna, and Yemaja.
